Boring Dinner Blog

What is worse than having to cook one time per day? Having to cook 2 times in one day. When I got home from work, I checked the pot of crock at my pork chop/potato concoction and I literally gagged. It was so freakin' sick. I dumped it right down the garbage disposal. It was SICK.

I ended up cooking my cornbread/chili casserole, which everyone loved and there isn't a drop left!

How boring! I'll stop myself right now before I blog anymore boring cooking blogs. DULL to the MAX.

Sorry about it.

Tomorrow: frozen pizza (YES!!)
Wednesday: White Chicken Chili (YUMMMM)
Thursday: Don't know
Friday: Don't know

Cooking is the worst part of the day. I agonize between 4-5 about what I am going to do, because I have not even thought about it. It is just a stress that I don't need!

I'm right with you. I feel so overwhelmed when I try to come up with something for dinner. Ordering out is best, lol. The worst part is I only work 3x/week, so you would think on the 2 days off that I could come up with *something* to make, but no, I just wait until 5:00 then run in the kitchen and boil some macaroni or throw some chicken patties in the toaster oven.

I made eggs and biscuits for dinner. Do you ever do "breakfast for dinner"? The kids love it. So easy, too!

Hmm... perhaps we could swap? I'm quite the decent cook and enjoy it totally, alas, I hate having to clean my house 1,000 times a day. So... maybe I could come to your house, cook your dinners and you could, say, come apply clean sheets to my bed and do something about these small people that trash my house constantly?

Brinner (breakfast for dinner) is a favorite standby in our house! It's quick and easy and we always have the ingredients on hand.

I will jot down a couple of "Open Up A Can" Slim original recipes for you! I love using canned goods to create scrumptious dishes. Probably need to ask a couple of thing first though... 1)how are you with a can opener? 2) do you like tomatoes? Just about every OUAC recipe calls for a can of ro-tel.

O Mama...I hear ya. Last night was disasterous for me. My intention was great, the outcome not so much.

I had kids bathed early. I was browning some turkey meat to make some Hamb. Helper and open the pantry to find none. So...in my creative mind I decide to make my own by dumping two boxes of mac n cheese, along with the cheez packets, water, and some milk. Bring to a boil, let simmer, and...

it was THE WORST THING EVA! I let it sit way too long and it turned into mush. I'm just not a cook and I have to quit trying to be creative. It never works.

I need to stick to my basics (as if Hamb.Helper isn't basic enough) and I'm good. Newness in the kitchen is never a good thing.

Sorry I wrote so much.

I have had some major crock pot disasters. I even bought a new crock pot because I was blaming the equipment. Apparently it is me- I suck at crockpotting. We did have white chicken chilly last night, which was delish. I even scooped out some for lunch before the hubs got home, so he couldn't eat it all. Is that mean?

I am sorry that the crockpot meal did not work out. I feel your pain.

If you ever decide to cheat on DL at least do it with a CHEF! That way you won't have to worry about dinner (just other things-like gettin' caught!)

Ok, I am a big fan of your blog and was just catching up on my reading. I second Sasha's Chad Rogers question from your photo montage. Is he a family friend or something? (FTR, I tried the search tool but received an error-I know how busy you are!!).

Also, great crock pot recipe: Put boneless skinless chicken breasts (other parts probably work too, I just don't like bones), thawed, frozen, whatever. Add ~1/2 jar salsa and one can of black beans drained. Cook on low for 6-8 hour and shred the chicken. Voila: filling for tacos, burritos, nachos, etc.

If I didn't have to help a 1st grade drama queen with homework, I may be more inclined to cook.
