Mamalicious Readers, I need you to comment today!
I'm party planning (read a few posts below, as you will see this is my first theme party to plan). I am making a CD with some fun tunes for the kids to rock out to.
Here is what I have so far:
It's a Long Way to the Top- AC/DC
Pour Some Sugar on Me- Def Leppard
Walk this Way- Run DMC & Aerosmith
Higher Ground- Red Hot Chili Peppers
I was going to add the Humpty Dance by Digital Underground, but the song starts out with, "Uh Uh Do Me Baby." I love the song. But I'm not sure that other kids' parents would think very highly of me if their kid came home singing, "Uh Uh Do Me Baby."
I need ideas for tame-ish songs. Rock or punk would be great, and rap is fine too. I just can't have over-the-top vulgar lyrics. I personally love vulgar lyrics in my rap music, but I choose to censor that for my LM's ears.
So, no Pussy Control by Prince... OK?

Hope this is not lame, but what about No Doubt for some rock? It is a pretty tame. I guess Katy Perry's "I kissed a girl" is out of the question!! HA HA
Yes! No Doubt is great. "I'm Just a Girl". I dig it! Keep it comin' Shanna! Thanks :o)
Holly
Humpty Dance also contains the lyrics "In a 69 my humpty nose will tickle your rear". The kids would have no clue, but I am pretty sure the parents would catch on!
What about:
Everybody Dance Now
I like to Move it
(they are proven kid faves from my kindergarten class)
What about some OutKast - Hey Ya? Ever checked out Crazy Frog - Popcorn? I think it's annoying as crap, but my two younger ones (8 & 5) love it... or Black Eyed Peas... Maybe the edited version of Get Low (don't want anybody being folded like a pornography poster, huh?)?
Hmmmm.... Is Talk Dirty to Me out of the question?
I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night
Sugar High
Poison Ivy
Here I Go Again
Once Bitten, Twice Shy
Gypsy Road
Are you going to wear a trash bag?
Living on a Prayer... I always think that should go alongside Pour Some Sugar on Me. And Billie Jean always makes me happy... although then you might have to explain who Michael Jackson is, and well, yikes.
The Cha Cha slide is such a fun party song... the girls and I dance to it all the time.. check it!
Don't Stop Believin' by Journey [is that the real title?]
I saw the Sign by Ace of Base
Can't Touch this by MC Hammer
Billie Jean by Michael Jackson
Spiderwebs by No Doubt
Hungry Like a Wolf by Duran Duran
You Shook me all night Long by AC/DC
Walk Like an Egyptian by The Bangles
Beat It by Michael Jackson
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cindi Lauper
Wake me up Before You Go-Go by Wham!
Love Shack by the B-52s
We're Not Going to Take it by Twisted Sister
Fight For Your Right to Party by The Beastie Boys
Mickey by Toni Basil
Mr. Roboto by STYX
Straight Up by Paula Abdul
You Got It (The Right Stuff) by New Kids on the Block
Let me know if you need more. I just had a Flashback party a few weeks ago, so my iPod is a treasure chest of 80s and early 90s rock music...
My son LOVES "You Can't Always Get What you Want" by the Rolling Stones. Not a bad message either for the little ones.
I guess the Divinyls "Touch Myself" is out of the question, huh?
I love rock n roll!!!!!!!
Cause We Rock on the Camp Rock CD is a fav in our house and perfect for pre-pre-pre teen girls, which my almost 6 year old daughter and her friends act like!
Okay, so I don't know if you're wanting any 80's music, but anything from Footloose or Flashdance would be so.much.fun for the girls! :)
What a feeling
Maniac
Footloose
Hurts so good
Beat It-Michael J.
Love Shack
Holly, I love the suggestions everyone gave. There were several I would have recommended. The party will be so fun! I can't wait to hear all about it!

What about that song "Everybody Walk the Dinosaur?" That may not be the title, but it is something along those lines. We loved that one as kids
Would oldies work? Jackson 5 ,The Beatles? I am making cd's for our vacation and it ranges from Aerosmith, Jackson 5 to Wham and N'Sync. Cheesy? Yes. Super fun? Heck yeah!
I totally dare you to add some Debbie Gibson or Tiffany to the mix! LOL. Electric Youth was pretty jamming, or I Think We're Alone now. Now SO rock and rolly BUT still fun to dance to.
Welcome to the Jungle!!!!!
Livin' on a Prayer, Don't Stop Believin', and "Girls" by Beastie Boys :)
Here I go again by the one & only Whitesnake.
Oh and you MUST use Mr. Roboto!!
what about some Jonas Brothers and the new Miley Cyrus songs.
I know my kid loves those!!! You could mix some old with the new. :)
Dani Califoria and I love Rock and Roll...two of my 4 year olds personal favorites!
See, at least you're willing to do that. I was checking out the music CD's at Party City yesterday b/c I don't want to have to figure out what to choose.
P.S. The did have rock n' roll cd's for girls there. :)
I love rock and roll by Joan Jett! #2 rocks to this song...thanks to guitar hero at her uncles house! How about "Mother"? Also from guitar hero but I can't think of the name of the artist who sings it...
I'm writing these down and submitting the list to Mimi for downloading. I might be more excited than Chandler is.
Sasha- I may rock a trash bag. Or I may wait for our time together to rock the trash bag. Let me ponder that.
Migraine Mom- Mother is a song by Danzig. "Mutha... Gonna take your daughter out tonight... gonna show her my world...."
I didn't think about adding GWAR to the mixture. Hmmmm....
23 comments, I feel SO LOVED :o)
JBB loves Bon Jovi and get this, John Denver. What about some music from some kid movies...like the Rascal Flatts version of "life is a highway"
You need some AC/DC in that mix. Back in Black, baby!
My girls like "Who let the Dogs out"
What about Queen-
We Will Rock You
Here I go again by Whitesnake
Jett-Are you gonna be my girl
Metallica-Enter Sandman
